該學校的前身是山西大學唐Xixue Junzhai，成立于1902年。這是中國建立的三所最早的國立大學之一。它是通過Shanxi大學工程學和Shanxi大學工程學院進行的。它于1953年獨立成立，被任命為臺灣理工學院，直接在高等教育部。它于1962年屬于Shanxi省。它于1984年更名為臺灣技術大學。1997年，臺灣技術大學與Shanxi礦業和技術學院合并，該學院于1958年直接在煤炭部下太原理工大學研究生招生網，并成立為臺灣技術大學。
